DMSO: REGENERATION OF CELLS AND TISSUES

DMSO means dimethyl sulfoxide, is an organic solvent, and is obtained from wood.
In its pure state it is almost odorless and has a slightly oily consistency. In addition, it mixes very well with water. At temperatures below 18 °C, it crystallizes, as its melting point is 18 °C. At warmer temperatures, this process reverses and the DMSO becomes liquid again.

The active substance DMSO has been known for 150 years and has gone through many ups and downs during this time. Today, it is experiencing a true renaissance. Its properties as an antioxidant, solvent, and carrier substance in science and medicine have long been undisputed. Thus, this multi-talent can be an effective weapon in the fight against inflammation, swelling, and contusions.

According to the natural scientist and book author Dr. Hartmut Fischer, the various effects of DMSO can be reduced to the following common denominator: DMSO supports and brings about — even in cases of severe tissue damage — the reorganization and regeneration of cells, or it protects the body preventively.

DMSO should be pharmaceutically pure – 99.9%; the designation “Ph. Eur.” indicates that the remaining 0.1% consists solely of pure water.

DMSO and MSM (Organic Sulfur)

DMSO and the sulfur-containing natural substance MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) are closely related. From a chemical point of view, they are quite similar, but differ in their effects:

The body metabolizes DMSO into dimethyl sulfone (DMSO₂) and dimethyl sulfide (DMS). Dimethyl sulfone (DMSO₂) corresponds to the sulfur-containing organic substance MSM, which is known as a dietary supplement. The sulfur-containing DMS is exhaled through the lungs and excreted through the skin.

APPLICATION

Never use DMSO pure, but always dilute it with water (as specified).

DMSO should only come into contact with plastics that are suitable for this purpose, for example HDPE, or when it is diluted to below 20%. For safety reasons, containers—even those made of HDPE—should be rinsed with pure DMSO before use. For example, a small amount of DMSO can be drawn into a syringe. Then pull the plunger completely to the stop and shake the syringe. The contents should then be discarded. The same applies to spray bottles.

DMSO is a potentiator of all medications. This should be taken into account when administering medications such as heart, pain, or thyroid medications. Their effect is increased by one third. Therefore, a dose adjustment should be made during oral DMSO administration.

Cortisone should be avoided as far as possible during internal therapy with DMSO, or at least carefully reconsidered.

Under no circumstances should antibiotics, antiepileptics, or cytostatics be administered during internal use of DMSO. A minimum interval of 3 days should be observed.

External Use in Humans and Animals

The skin should be cleaned with warm water before application.
During the first 20 minutes after application, contact with clothing should also be avoided.

When rubbing in, do not use rubber gloves, as this material could be dissolved.

Suitable Concentrations for External Use

• Feet / legs: 60–80% aqueous DMSO solution
• Torso / arms: 40–70% aqueous DMSO solution
• Neck / head: 35–50% aqueous DMSO solution
• Ear / nasal drops: 15–20% isotonic, aqueous DMSO solution*
• Open skin areas: 30–60% sterile, isotonic, aqueous DMSO solution*
• Skin warts: 80–90% aqueous solution, apply locally with a cotton swab
• Special form – eye drops: 1–3% sterile, isotonic, aqueous DMSO solution*

Isotonic means a 0.9% isotonic saline solution.

Internal Use (Humans)

The target dosage is:

0.1 ml of pure DMSO per kilogram of body weight, always diluted.

Example starting doses:

  • 40 kg body weight: approx. 1.5 ml

  • 60 kg body weight: approx. 2.5 ml

  • 80 kg body weight: approx. 3.5 ml

  • 100 kg body weight: approx. 4.5 ml

Higher maximum dosages are mentioned, but gradual increase is emphasized.

Inhalation

  • Use a cold nebulizer

  • Concentration: 1% DMSO

    • Example: 0.1 ml DMSO + 9.9 ml saline

  • Inhalation time: approx. 15 minutes

Use in Animals

DMSO can be used in animals such as:

  • Dogs

  • Cats

  • Horses (ponies, full-size horses, draft horses)

Dosage is based on body weight, similar to humans.

Administration methods:

  • Oral (diluted, mixed with food)

  • External application

  • Inhalation

    STORAGE

At low temperatures below 18 °C, DMSO crystallizes. Store upright and at a minimum of +19 °C, as well as closed, dry, protected from light, and out of the reach of children. Dimethyl sulfoxide is odorless and colorless and becomes liquid at 18.3 °C. At higher temperatures above 18.3 °C, it can be liquefied again. Do not heat in a microwave.

The 99.9% solution has no expiration date; solutions prepared for application should be used up within a few days.

    IMPORTANT TO KNOW

A healthy body can only develop if the intestine is healthy. Nutrition also plays an important role here. In the case of an already diseased body, it is therefore essential to adjust the diet and carry out intestinal rehabilitation. If you have questions in this regard, we are happy to assist you.
